Skills strategy for Northern Ireland
In May 2021, the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland introduced its 10X Economic Vision for Northern Ireland. A major focus of this vision is an investment in the skills that will drive key strategic clusters.
This aspect of the vision was examined in a consultation referred to as ‘Skills strategy for Northern Ireland’. The consultation closed on 19 August 2021.
The skills strategy outlines plans to focus on innovation by increasing further education qualifications in technical and professional skills and rebalancing higher education towards Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects.
